As you know we only bring on the best reporters, and you are the best! Montropolis is experiencing a literacy lull and we need you to uncover ways to help turn it around.
It could be the work of the Phonics Phantom!! Or perhaps our readers have been inflicted with Comprehension Confusion. It is your job, plucky reporters, to take a snapshot of the situation, get the facts, write up a plan, and report out!
Course Objectives
Participants will learn:
- How to access and use support in early literacy
- The value of your role in the library
- Think about how you might build upon your existing programs.
- Ways to talk about the work you do in your communities
- To identify the impact of story time on children, development, community, culture, and positive interpersonal connection
- To create an outline to envision and create an updated or enhanced story time experience.
- Practice communicating the story of your program to build experience and efficacy sharing the importance of this work
- To grow programs based on their vision as described in their stories.
Estimated Course Length: 18 hours
Continuing Education Units: 18 - Library Services to the Public
- The continuing education certificate is embedded in the last section of the course. It will unlock when you have finished the course.
- Please download and save/print the certificate when you complete the course.
- A badge will automatically be awarded and added to your MSL Learn profile.
- Access the ASPeN Knowledge Base for instructions for claiming credit in ASPeN.
Virtual Conference:
This is a virtual conference with real time speakers and events as well as forums for response and homework to guide you through the work. It takes place over 1 full and 2 half action packed days requiring virtual attendance for credit.As you complete required activities in each section, the next section will unlock. You wont be able to claim your credit until the very end, but you will receive badges as you progress through the course.
This course will include links to speaker presentations, readings, discussion forums and assignments.
