Introduction - Three Forks

Hello,

My name is Jaime Ewan, and I am the Library Director at the Three Forks Community Library. I understand how important early literacy is to a child. I have always disliked reading out loud. I was that kid in class that would count the paragraphs until I had to read so that I could practice my paragraph in my head before reading out loud. I still don't want to read out loud, even if it is just Story Time. I have found other librarians or parents to cover story time. The past director, Fawn Venzor, was so good at story time. She read books, sang songs, and played games. I am not a singer either.

So, I am hoping to learn more about what babies and toddlers need to start their reading journey. To step out of my comfort zone and feel more confident in speaking about early literacy. To help parents find the right resources.

Hi Jaime,

I can see how early literacy is important to you! There is a lot to it and the pre-work should help as a crash course before we hear from all of our speakers. My hope is that this conference has come to you at the perfect time. There is a segment of the work we will be doing next week that is dedicated to making a plan for future programming, and we will be talking about your plans off and on for the rest of the year!
